Join a Cool Connection with the Solar Impulse plane

The Solar Impulse plane is writing the next pages in aviation history as the first completely solar-powered aircraft designed to fly both day and night without fossil fuel or pollution. The challenge of Swisscom, one of ETNO's member companies, is to develop a communications system that will allow the pilots to keep in constant touch with the ground while keeping to a minimum weight of 5 kilos and a maximum power requirement of 50 watts - and still be able to exchange data and pictures. This technology will be crucial to guide the plane safely to its destination once it takes off for the first non-stop long haul flight around the earth.
