In recent years it focused on finding ways to change business practices to truly make a difference on its environmental impact. Small changes in the use of IT can have a big impact. BT found that using broadband-based conferencing services instead of face-to-face meetings saved the company 97,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2006-2007. It also saved the company more than €153 million in travel costs.
